Church Targeted with Islamic Graffiti, Mob Attack
A mob attacked a church after claiming a deacon had blasphemed Islam. The deacon discovered “Muhammad,” the name of Islam’s founder, painted on an alleyway in front of a church. He cleaned it up before anyone could walk on it and accuse the church of blasphemy. Regardless, someone rallied a mob to attack the church and the deacon, saying he had no right to touch the word as he wasn’t Muslim. When the mob arrived, the deacon and the church’s pastor fled. The deacon lost his job and has been living in hiding. Using surveillance videos, police arrested the person responsible for the graffiti, who claimed to be mentally unstable and was released after a few days. The global body of Christ is now helping the deacon start a new business. “Please pray for the safety of this church, its pastor and its members,” asked a front-line worker. “And pray that Pakistani Christians will be bold in spite of these vicious attacks.”
