A Culture Shift Among New Believers

Many people from rural areas and minority tribal groups in Vietnam have embraced Christ in recent decades, but a pastor there said he is now seeing more educated people turn to Christ in the large city where he lives. He and his wife started a church by praying alone in their living room, and the church has now grown into multiple congregations meeting in different parts of the city. One church member is a university professor who had read the Bible years before and discounted it as “full of myths.” But after a colleague invited him to church, he was convicted of his sinfulness and need for redemption. Today, the man is a leader in the church. The pastor said educated city dwellers are searching for true meaning in their lives.
