Christians Attacked by Hindu Extremists

Hindu extremists attacked a group of Christians while they were praying, beating them with rods, breaking chairs, and destroying Bibles and song books. As neighbors watched, the radicals hung garlands of shoes around the necks of five women and three men before parading them down the street to a Hindu temple for a forced reconversion ceremony. By the time police arrived hours later, an evangelist named Karun had been beaten so severely with an iron rod that he had suffered fractures to his legs, hands and body. Several months later, surgeons were forced to amputate one of his legs because it was not healing properly. “A person who was walking around sharing the gospel, organizing and gathering people for prayer and working to earn for his family is now sitting helpless, but hoping for a greater reward from the Lord,” a VOM worker said.
